Poison Phenibut

An independent public-health evidence base on phenibut

Not medical advice

Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you use phenibut regularly, do not stop abruptly without medical guidance — abrupt discontinuation after regular use has been associated with serious withdrawal effects in published case reports. Talk to a clinician or contact Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) about how to reduce or stop safely.

Emergencies

If someone is unresponsive, having a seizure, or having trouble breathing, call 911. For suspected poisoning, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. For a suicidal crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). These numbers are U.S.-specific.

No invented people, and no dosing

There are no composite characters, illustrative testimonials, or fabricated quotations anywhere on this site. Every personal account described is a summary, in our own words, of a specific published case report, and each one carries a citation you can retrieve independently. An earlier version of this site carried clearly-labelled fictional composite scenarios; they were removed.

This site also does not publish numeric doses for phenibut, including within summaries of published cases. Someone reading a warning page should not be able to extract a starting amount from it.

Content methodology

Health and regulatory claims on this site carry inline citations to primary sources — CDC surveillance publications, FDA regulatory documents, statutory text, and peer-reviewed literature — listed in the references section of each page. The content has been compiled from these public sources and has not undergone independent clinical review. Full detail on sourcing, verification, and how corrections are handled is in the editorial policy.

This site is a reference for a professional audience. It is not written for someone currently in trouble with phenibut; the emergency page is.

No affiliation, no funding

This independent project is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the CDC, FDA, SAMHSA, Poison Control, or any government agency, university, or healthcare organization. It receives no funding, sells nothing, and carries no advertising or affiliate relationships.
